The Van Camp Futrell Scholarship Program
Cheryl S. Futrell’s career spanned four decades at Penick Village. During that time, she advanced from a role of Executive Housekeeper to holding the first-ever Chief Operating Officer position. Upon her retirement in 2016, many contributions were made in her honor to form a non-endowed scholarship fund serving Penick team members, their children, and grandchildren.
In 2023, a Penick Village resident, Robert “Rip” Van Camp, made a very generous donation, which was matched by Penick, in order to establish an endowed scholarship fund. This fund allows Penick to continue offering scholarships to team members, their children, and grandchildren for many years to come. Additionally, the program has expanded to include not only traditional two- and four-year degrees but technical, trade, and certificate programs.
Combining the two funds into the Van Camp Futrell Scholarship Program enables Penick to do the most good for more team members.
